A Breif History
During the Industrial Revolution many factory workers got their hands smashed between the dies of stamping machines. Eventually the idea of a clutch-brake safety valve was introduced into the manufacturing process to (hopefully) avert this kind of an accident.
These valves are used on a press clutch-brake system. They can be connected directly to the two palm buttons the machine operator depresses to make the machine cycle*. Each palm button energizes one solenoid which allows compressed air to engage the clutch and disengage the brake simultaneously thus allowing the machine to make one complete cycle. These valves must reset after each cycle. This is done by the machine having a sensor attached somewhere telling the valve it has completed one cycle. If only one palm button is depressed and the other is jammed down somehow, the valve will fail.This does not mean the valve needs servicing, this means the valve is working properly. The machine must be (fully) at rest and the valve should reset automatically after each cycle. If it does not, remove the valve and have it serviced.
